Kia Sorento & Hyundai H1 2.5 CRDi D4CB Timing Chain Kit with Sprockets

This comprehensive D4CB timing chain kit includes the chains, tensioners, guide rails and sprockets required for the pictured timing-system repair. Suitable applications include the Kia Sorento 2.5 CRDi and selected Hyundai H1, Starex, i800, iLoad, Porter and H350 Bus models listed below.

The kit includes four replacement sprockets: two camshaft sprockets, one injection-pump sprocket and one crankshaft sprocket. These allow worn sprockets to be renewed alongside the chains during the repair.

Timing Chain Kit Contents

  • 1 × main timing / injection-pump drive chain — 98 links
  • 1 × camshaft drive chain — 90 links
  • 1 × oil-pump drive chain — 80 links
  • 3 × chain tensioners
  • 7 × chain guide and tensioner rails
  • 2 × camshaft sprockets
  • 1 × injection-pump sprocket
  • 1 × crankshaft sprocket
  • 1 × front crankshaft oil seal

The oil-pump chain is included in the three-chain total. The main product image shows the supplied component layout.

Engine Code and Vehicle Compatibility

Engine code: D4CB. Applications below are for the 2.5-litre CRDi diesel engine, 2,497 cc, using the SKCH039F-equivalent timing-kit specification.

Dates are catalogue application dates, not a guarantee that every vehicle registered during that period uses the same components. Where no closing date is published, “onwards” indicates an open-ended catalogue entry. Always check the VIN and any restrictions shown below.

Please check before ordering: the D4CB engine code appears across several vehicle generations and markets. Use the model, power output, build date and VIN together when identifying the correct timing kit.

Why the Included Sprockets Matter

A timing-chain repair should consider the condition of the sprockets as well as the chains. Chains and sprocket teeth wear together, and worn teeth can accelerate wear on a replacement chain.

This kit includes the two camshaft sprockets, injection-pump sprocket and crankshaft sprocket shown in the main image. Renewing these components alongside the chains avoids leaving those worn sprockets in the repaired system.

D4CB Timing-Chain Rattle and Repeat Failure

Timing-chain rattle can be associated with chain wear, damaged guides, worn sprockets or tensioner problems. Proper diagnosis should also include the engine's oil supply, because hydraulic chain tensioners depend on adequate oil pressure and clean oil.

A new timing kit cannot repair an underlying oil-pressure problem. Restricted oil passages, contamination, a blocked oil-pump pickup or a faulty oil pump can affect tensioner operation and lubrication. If the original cause remains, replacement components can suffer premature wear or repeat failure.

Investigate unusual startup or running noise promptly. Replacement should be based on the vehicle manufacturer's guidance and a mechanic's assessment of the timing system and lubrication system.

Installation Requirements

  • Have the kit fitted by a qualified mechanic familiar with the D4CB engine.
  • Follow the manufacturer's timing, torque and tensioner-installation procedures.
  • Check all replacement components against the original parts before fitting.
  • Investigate the cause of any previous chain, guide or tensioner failure.
  • Check the oil supply and renew the engine oil and filter to the correct vehicle specification.
  • Replace any additional damaged components, seals or fasteners required by the repair procedure.
